The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education has selected Bruce A. Metz, PhD, to serve as its first CIO, effective in January.
Dr. Metz is currently CIO at University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. He has prior experience as CIO at several prominent healthcare organizations, including Lahey Health in Burlington, Mass.
He is a College of Healthcare Information Management Executives-certified healthcare CIO and a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and American Medical Informatics Association. He served on the Health IT Advisory Council for the state of Connecticut.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accredits all graduate medical training programs for physicians in the U.S.
In his new role, Dr. Metz will oversee the creation of an organizationwide information services strategy and development of an information architecture.
