Google is launching new features to its search engine that aim to help patients find physicians who are in network with their insurance and reduce language barriers, the tech giant said in a Dec. 2 company blog post.
When searching for a specific provider, people can now check which insurance networks the physician might accept. People who use Google Search on their mobile devices can also filter results to see only providers who accept Medicare, according to the blog post.
Google also added an option to its search engine that lets prospective patients see what languages are spoken at a provider's office. Google Search has more than a dozen languages represented, including Spanish and American Sign Language.
Providers can update their information by claiming and editing their Google Business Profiles, the company said.
