Google may be developing a device that reminds users to take medications along with their meals, according to a patent application published last week.
The patent for the "meal-based medication reminder system" indicates the device uses at least one computer-generated indication and a pre-defined activity that indicates a person is eating. Once the device determines the person is eating, it will send the person a reminder to take their medication.
According to Venture Beat, such indications or pre-defined activities may include blood sugar level, the sound of a person eating, the activity of moving a utensil into the mouth and even time of day.
Venture Beat says the patent itself doesn't mean such a device — likely to be a smartwatch — will enter the public market. "But it does prove that two people at Google were thinking about technology that can remind you to take your medications seriously enough to come up with an implementation," according to the report.
