Geisinger opens Precision Health Center

The Precision Health Center at Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System is now officially open, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony held Monday.

The Precision Health Center is located in Forty Fort, Pa., and features both clinical research space and a patient care center. The 14,000-square-foot facility also will become the primary location for Geisinger Research, as well as homebase for teams from Geisinger's Clinical Genomics and Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute. Additionally, the facility offers a telemedicine genomics program, using real-time specialized video-conferencing software to consult on genomics-related matters with patients or providers across the world.

"The genomic data that will become available to our team at Forty Fort will allow us to give patients access to genomically informed healthcare in a manner and at a scale that has not been seen before," said Michael Murray, MD, director of clinical genomics at Geisinger Genomic Medicine Institute.
