Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System has announced plans to build a research and telemedicine center focused entirely around genomics, according to a report by The Pittston Sunday Dispatch.
Slated to be built in Forty Fort, Pa., the Geisinger Genomic Medicine Center will be the first of its kind, offering "telegenomics" services and treatment centered around patients' DNA, according to the report.
"This is the center that we'll work out of to treat patients across Geisinger, across the region, across the country and hopefully across the world," said Michael Murray, director of clinical genomics, in the report.
The 14,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in November and is expected to treat up to 50 patients a week, according to the report.
