GE Healthcare unveils 'Heroines of Health' documentary

GE Healthcare presented the premiere of "Heroines of Health," a documentary by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Lisa Russell, July 18.

Through the documentary, GE Healthcare aimed to bring attention to three of the many unrecognized women who participate in the global healthcare workforce. The documentary focuses on Mrs. Rohani, a volunteer midwife's assistant in Indonesia; Mercy Owuor, a community health expert in Kenya; and Dr. Sharmila, founder of an enterprise that teaches students in Indian to become technicians.

"I have been deeply inspired by the passion and resiliency of the women I've met who, unofficially and despite great challenges, are on the front lines improving the health of their communities," said Terri Bresenham, president and CEO of Sustainable Healthcare Solutions at GE Healthcare. "The heroines in this documentary are three such women."
