Acting Federal Trade Commission Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen appointed Neil Alan Chilson the FTC's acting chief technologist.
Mr. Chilson will advise Ms. Ohlhausen on the agency's technology use, technical aspects of law enforcement actions and technology policy recommendations.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Chilson served as attorney advisor to Ms. Ohlhausen on technology, privacy and data security matters.
"Much of the FTC's work occurs at the intersection of rapidly changing technology and consumer experiences, implicating complex legal and policy issues," Ms. Ohlhausen said. "Neil has spent his career at this intersection and has been a valuable contributor to the FTC's technology-related work."
