Four states have reported initial Medicaid incentive payments totaling more than $20 million, according to a CMS announcement.
"This strong early interest in the Medicare and Medicaid [electronic health record] incentive programs among providers and state Medicaid programs is most welcome and very encouraging," said Donald Berwick, MD, administrator of CMS.
The four states that received Medicaid incentive payments are Oklahoma, Kentucky, Louisiana and Iowa. Additional Medicaid incentive payments are in process, according to the announcement. To date, 11 states have launched Medicaid EHR incentive programs.
