Former Sony employees sue, claiming Sony failed to protect data

Two former Sony employees have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company accusing Sony of failing to protect employee data, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

The lawsuit alleges Sony "failed to secure its computer systems, servers and databases, despite weakness that it has known about for years," according to the report. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges Sony has not adequately notified former employees whose information may have been compromised, the report says.

Cari Laufenberg, a partner with Keller Rohrback, told the Los Angeles Times there is reason to believe medical information was released.

Sony has offered employees identity protection services from a third-party vendor, according to the report.
