Once competitors in the EHR space, leaders of Lightbeam Health Solutions and Allscripts are joining forces to boost population health and reduce healthcare costs.
Earlier, Pat Cline served as CEO of Lightbeam while Glen Tullman served as CEO of Allscripts, two EHR vendors who were in competition for a number of years.
Now, Mr. Tullman and former Allscripts' president Lee Shapiro are investing a strategic capital investment with Lightbeam to develop a platform creating an industry standard for leveraging analytic insights.
"Healthcare is rapidly becoming consumer-focused. To satisfy the new needs and demands of today's health consumer, physicians, healthcare providers and the hospitals they practice in need to have the right information at the right time," said Mr. Tullman. "This means replacing the mountains of data with best-in-class analytics that provide actionable information that can be used to improve patient care and simultaneously lower costs."
Mr. Tullman currently is CEO of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Livongo Health, and Mr. Shapiro is managing director of 7wire Ventures.
Mr. Cline added that being in competition with these leaders helped develop the relationship they have today.
"Looking back, competing with Allscripts was a valuable experience for our organizations, and as it turns out, for us as leaders," Mr. Cline said. "That competition helped create a foundation for this partnership."
