Former Apple CEO John Sculley is joining the board of eternalHealth, a tech-focused Medicare Advantage licensed in Massachusetts.
The plan uses nirvanaHealth's cloud-based platform as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate payer transactions, according to the Dec. 30 eternalHealth news release. Mr. Sculley will serve as chair of the board.
EternalHealth is the first Medicare Advantage plan to be licensed in Massachusetts in nearly a decade, and the company looks to expand into other states.
"All payers pretty much manage the $4 trillion healthcare spend by deciding how care is delivered, measured, and paid for," Mr. Sculley said in the release. "I believe if payers deploy digital workplace automation for most of the transactions across their organization, they can substantially reduce administrative costs and leave more dollars for the total cost of care, allocating more towards providing quality care through a high-touch model to assist patients and physician partners."
