The Florida Department of Health has plans to increase security of its prescription drug database in an effort to better protect patient information, according to a Miami Herald report.
New safety measures under consideration include a reduced number of database users, automatic notifications to administrators when a user requests database information and a process for removing users who compromise patient data, according to the report.
The announcement from the health department comes a week after the American Civil Liberties Union claimed patient data was leaked from the database, according to the report.
