Fitbit, One Drop partner for diabetes management

One Drop, a digital health company focused on diabetes care management, entered into a data sharing collaboration with Fitbit, the company announced Oct. 31.

Under the agreement, individuals who use One Drop's diabetes education and coaching app will be able to integrate Fitbit data — including physical activity, sleep and heart rates — into their One Drop accounts. One Drop will be able to analyze the Fitbit data alongside other user-generated information to identify actionable insights, such as how physical activity influences blood glucose levels.

One Drop also plans to develop an app for the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch to provide wearers with diabetes-related health insights.

"We strive to provide our community with the most comprehensive set of data and tools to manage their diabetes or prediabetes," said Jeff Dachis, CEO and founder of One Drop. "By integrating Fitbit data and creating an app for Fitbit Ionic, we will be able to provide our users and their healthcare providers with more data and deeper insights to better manage their diabetes."
