Fitbit joined forces with Dexcom, a provider of continuous glucose monitoring products, to develop mobile diabetes management tools.
The collaboration's initial project will bring continuous glucose monitoring data from Dexcom products into Fitbit's smartwatch, Ionic. Through the collaboration, Dexcom users will be able to see their continuous glucose monitoring data displayed from the smartwatch, to track glucose levels throughout the day.
"The collaboration between Dexcom and Fitbit is an important step in providing useful information to people with diabetes that is both convenient and discreet," said Kevin Sayer, president and CEO of Dexcom.
Fitbit and Dexcom plan to release the integrated product in 2018.
