Federal exchange site is working, and much better than last year

This year, the federal health insurance exchange website seems to be working well enough that as of Sunday, the day after sign-up went live, 100,000 people had submitted insurance applications, according to a report from The New York Times.

In contrast, only six people were able to sign up for insurance the first day the exchange was live in 2013, with 248 enrolled in 48 hours, according to the report.

According to HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, 500,000 people logged on to healthcare.gov on Nov. 15, the first day the site was open for insurance applications. While new customers didn't have problems, returning customers experienced difficulties retrieving usernames and passwords, according to the report.
