Ajit Pai, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, committed to continuing the Connect2Health Task Force, according to a recent FCC statement.
Mr. Pai released his statement during a March 16 visit to Cleveland Clinic, where he learned about the hospital's work with telehealth. The FCC's Connect2Health Task Force is a multidisciplinary initiative founded to improve broadband and healthcare technologies.
"Expanding the reach of medical expertise with connectivity illustrates the potential of broadband to improve people's lives, particularly in rural and underserved areas," Mr. Pai said. "This visit also highlighted the important role of the FCC in bridging the broadband-enabled health gap. That is yet another aspect of the digital divide, which I'm committed to closing."
In his statement, Mr. Pai specified that FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn will continue to lead the Connect2Health Task Force.
