Ex-GE CEO Jeff Immelt takes on a 2nd healthcare role

Jeff Immelt, the former General Electric chairman and CEO, is joining the board of directors for Radiology Partners, marking his second move into healthcare this month, according to CNBC.

"As healthcare continues to leverage technology — including machine learning and artificial intelligence — to advance care, Radiology Partners is uniquely positioned to thrive over the long term," Mr. Immelt said in a statement. "I was attracted by RP's single-specialty focus, dedication to delivering innovative value-based care, forward-thinking investments in technology and its commitment to developing and engaging outstanding physician leaders."

Earlier in February , the athenahealth board of directors unanimously appointed Mr. Immelt chairman of the company, in a move some analysts say could be redeeming for both.

Mr. Immelt spent 16 years at GE, where he grew GE Healthcare from a $3 billion to a $20 billion enterprise, in part by diversifying its portfolio with digital and life science services. However, during his run, the stock lost nearly 38 percent of its value and the company was accused of over-optimistic forecasts for its products.
