The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have reported that they are ready to launch registration on Jan. 3 for electronic health records incentive programs, according to a Government Health IT news report.

Eligible healthcare providers and hospitals can sign up for the Medicare EHR incentive programs on that date. Sign-up for the Medicaid EHR incentive program will also launch on that date in select states, including Alaska, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Physicians and hospitals that want to participate in the Medicaid incentive programs must register at the CMS registration site but must complete the eligibility verification site through their respective state Medicaid program.
