The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission has partnered with the Texas Health Service Authority to develop health information exchange accreditation criteria.
The criteria will be available for public review until May 23 and will then be used to finalize an accreditation program in the state. The ultimate goal of the program will be to improve interoperability and privacy and security safeguards across Texas.
"Working with the Texas Health Services Authority on this important initiative in the state of Texas has enabled us to scale our general HIE accreditation model to the specific needs and legal requirements at the state level in addition to our existing national HIE program," said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC, in a news release. "Ultimately, we are confident that this accreditation model will infuse trust, security and sustainability to the HIE efforts in Texas and across the U.S."
