DuPage Medical Group in Downers Grove, Ill., has launched a telemedicine platform to allow patients to video conference for non-urgent and non-emergency conditions.
The service is available through the group's patient portal. Conditions available for treatment through the telemedicine platform include acne, anxiety, depression, back pain, family planning, colds or other respiratory symptoms, constipation, coughing, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, heartburn or acid reflux, minor injuries, rashes, red eye, prescription refills, seasonal allergies, smoking cessation, STD questions, travel medicine, urinary symptoms or vaginal discharges, according to a news release.
The medical group conducted a pilot program over several months to ensure quality and effectiveness. The information from the telemedicine visit will be included in the patient's medical chart. Video visits can be conducted for $50 from any part of Illinois, according to the news release.
