Mountain View, Calif.-based Drchrono, a start-up electronic health record company, has developed an app compatible with Google Glass that allows physicians to essentially wear the EHR, according to a Reuters report.
The so-called "wearable health record" allows physicians to record a consultation or surgery as long as the patient consents to it. Physicians can also access videos, photos and notes in the EHR that are held in cloud-based storage. Such information can then be shared with the patient, according to the article.
To use Drchrono's app, physicians must be registered to use the company's EHR. Daniel Kivatinos, co-founder of Drchrono, said approximately 60,000 physicians are registered to use their EHR, and more than 300 are using the EHR app, according to the report. Currently, the app is free, but Drchrono implement a fee in the near future.
