Sean Tunis, MD — founder, president and CEO of the Baltimore-based research nonprofit Center for Medical Technology Policy — was elected president of Health Technology Assessment International.
HTAi is an international scientific and professional society focused on health technology assessment. As president, Dr. Tunis will work with industry leaders — from both private and public sectors — to advance technology assessment as a means to inform healthcare decision making.
Dr. Tunis, who has served as vice president on the HTAi board for the past two years, began his two-year presidential term June 21. Prior to founding CMTP, Dr. Tunis served as director of the office of clinical standards and quality and CMO of CMS.
