When it comes to taking care of personal data, smartphone users are more likely to trust hospitals than other industries, according to a survey administered by FICO, an analytics software company.
The survey finds 56 percent of smartphone users have "high trust" in hospitals for protecting their personal data, followed by banks at 54 percent and insurance companies at 42 percent.
Respondents indicated the lowest levels of "high trust" for Internet companies (28 percent), specialist data management companies (24 percent) and social media companies (17 percent).
"There is a clear opportunity for more traditional institutions such as banks, healthcare providers and insurance companies, to capitalize on the mobile data opportunity and provide a personalized service," reads the survey report. "These organizations have the advantage of being amongst the most trusted by consumers when it comes to taking care of personal data."
The survey gathered responses from 2,239 smartphone users in 14 countries.
