Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and Community Health Center, both in New London, Conn., are participating in a state-run patient data-sharing pilot program that would expand interoperability, according to a news report by The Day.
According to the news report, Community Health Center, which has multiple locations throughout Connecticut, has had an electronic health record in place since 2006. However, the EHR was limited in the types of information it could share with other healthcare providers. In the pilot program, Community Health Center and L&M can now more easily and quickly access critical patient data.
The pilot program is part of a larger initiative to demonstrate the feasibility of a statewide EHR system.
