The Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange seeks stakeholder input as it develops operating rules required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, according to an AHA News Now report.
The legislation requires the Department of Health and Human Services to adopt operating rules for each transaction under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to reduce healthcare costs.
The operating rules will address healthcare claims or encounters, health plan enrollment, health plan premium payments, referral certification and authorization and claim attachments.
Hospitals can share their priorities for the next set of operating rules by completing an online survey by Feb. 5, according to the report.
