Eligible hospitals and professionals are now able to submit applications for meaningful use hardship exceptions through Nov. 30, allowing them to potentially avoid Medicare payment adjustments in 2015 for not meeting meaningful use requirements this year.
The hardship exception deadline had previously been April 1, 2014 for hospitals and July 1, 2014 for professionals.
Only applications from providers that were unable to fully implement 2014 Edition CEHRT due to vendor delays and that were unable to attest to meaningful use using the flexibility options CMS finalized in September will be considered.
