CMS Posts Clarification on Attestation

CMS has updated its FAQ section regarding the attestation process for meaningful use.

According to CMS, eligible providers and hospitals must agree to several attestation statements, including agreeing that the information they submit for clinical quality measures was generated as output from a certified electronic health record.

CMS does not require any additional information beyond what is generated straight from the certified EHR in order to satisfy the requirement for submitting clinical quality measures information.

Additionally, CMS clarified that information submitted for clinical quality measures will not be assessed. Rather, eligible providers and hospitals are attesting to providing all information necessary from certified EHR technology, uncertified EHR technology and/or paper-based records in order to render complete and accurate information for all other meaningful use measures except clinical quality measures.
