CMS Makes Recommendation on Clinical Quality Measures for Meaningful Use

CMS has suggested eligible professionals do not select NQF 0085: Heart Failure: Warfarin Therapy Patients with Atrial Fibrillation as one of their additional clinical quality measures for meaningful use.

Participants in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs should not report this measure to meet the CQM objective because other FDA-approved anticoagulants are available, according to CMS. However, eligible professionals may continue to report NQF 0084 for the 2011-2012 program years if the EHR is certified for only nine CQMs and this measure is one of the nine.
