Tony Trenkle, CMS CIO and director of the Office of Information Services, will be leaving CMS to take a position in the private sector, according to a Washington Post report.
Mr. Trenkle joined CMS in 2005 as the director of the Office of E-Health Standards and Services. His last day will be Nov. 15. Dave Nelson, currently serving as the director of the Office of Enterprise Management, will serve as acting CIO until Mr. Trenkle's replacement is found, according to the report.
CMS officials declined to comment on whether Mr. Trenkle's resignation was linked to the troubled launch of the Healthcare.gov website, according to the report.
