CMS Adds 3 Clarifications to MU's Clinical Quality Measure Specifications

In an addition to the FAQ section of its website, CMS has made three clarifications to the clinical quality measure specifications as part of meaningful use requirements.

1. Electronic health record vendors must comply with the version of CQM specifications released by CMS in December 2012 to qualify for certification in 2014, although CMS recommends vendors update to comply with the latest specifications possible.

2. EHR software certified to version 1 CQM specifications can be updated to version 2 without the vendor seeking retesting or recertification, unless the software version is updated in the process.

3. EHR software can be certified to just the newest CQM requirements, regardless of past certifications.
