Kumar Chatani has served as executive vice president and CIO of New York-based Mount Sinai Health System since October 2011, bringing with him approximately 30 years of experience in the IT sector.
Before joining Mount Sinai Health System, Mr. Chatani was CIO for the Northwest region of Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Ore. He also previously served as interim CIO at Cigna-Lovelace Health Systems in Albuquerque, N.M., and as regional vice president for IT at Cigna Healthcare of California in Glendale.
Currently, Mr. Chatani is overseeing the IT systems integration efforts of Mount Sinai Medical Center and Continuum Health Partners, a seven-hospital campus, 3,500-bed and 36,000 employee health system. Part of that merger is the newly formed 750-person IT department, which Mr. Chatani leads.
Mr. Chatani also is spearheading population health system efforts in the IT department to improve care quality and outcomes.
In 2012, the former Mount Sinai Medical Center received the HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award for excellence under Mr. Chatani's leadership.
