CHIME and ONC Pledge Support to Regional Extension Centers

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology have issued a joint letter to regional extension center officers seeking collaboration in collectively achieving an electronically enabled healthcare system, according to a CHIME news release.

In the letter, RECs are encouraged to align with CHIME StateNet Coordinators in achieving health IT initiatives and helping healthcare providers select, implement and adopt meaningful use of electronic health records. The letter has also offered RECs to connect them with experienced CIOs in their respective states who have successfully implemented EHRs in their organizations.

StateNet is a network of CIOs from all 50 states, created by CHIME to facilitate the sharing of best practices and strategies in implementing healthcare information technology state-wide. CHIME StateNet Coordinators are experienced CIOs who have volunteered to coordinate health IT initiatives in their state.
