Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland (Calif.) has successfully linked inpatient operations and its oncology and hematology clinic to its new $89 million Epic electronic health record system, completing phase one of the implementation, according to a report in the San Francisco Business Times.
According to the report, 125 hospital employees and outside experts have been working on the implementation since February 2012. The $89 million price tag includes hardware, software and other implementation costs.
The implementation will expand to outpatient clinics by March or April, according to the report.
