Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner and Columbia-based University of Missouri Health Care announced plans to extend their relationship through at least 2025.
In 2009, Cerner and University of Missouri Health Care launched the Tiger Institute for Health Innovation, an initiative focused on delivering population health value through IT and innovation.
Through the extended collaboration, the two companies have introduced new initiatives for the Tiger Institute, including developing a population health strategy and network, using mHealth to bolster patient engagement, facilitate IT in academic medical research, transition to value-based payments and develop a new Tiger Institute Value Creation Office to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Additionally, Cerner and University of Missouri Health Care will establish the Tiger Institute Leadership Academy, a vehicle providing industry peers with educational resources and on-site visits.
"This extension of the MU-Cerner collaboration will help us achieve iconic status among health systems for healthcare information technology and outstanding patient care outcomes," said MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin. "It will benefit all Missourians and beyond as we expand medical research, speed health care innovations and improve population health locally, regionally and statewide. Through this collaboration, MU has been able to achieve early success in implementing health care technology solutions, and we are now able to move forward with new goals to improve patient care."
