Cerner is extending some of its U.S. employees a choice to continue their employment or consider a voluntary departure.
The program is designed for "select associates" to either renew their employment or pursue a different career opportunity, according to KSHB. All departures are voluntary.
"We're offering select associates a choice to continue their employment or consider a voluntary departure," said Cerner spokesman Dan Smith in a statement to KSHB. "This is a voluntary program with no predetermined outcomes. This program provides associates who are ready to make a change the choice to pursue their desired career opportunities with unique benefits to assist them as they transition."
Although the company has not disclosed the reason behind the offering, the announcement follows Cerner's recent $1.3 acquisition of Siemens' health technology division. Upon the acquisition, Cerner's employee base grew from 16,000 to 21,000, according to a Kansas City Business Journal report.
The company is still expanding into a new campus, which it began developing in November 2014. The facility will cost approximately $4.4 billion, and the company plans to create 16,000 jobs over the next 10 years, according to the report.
