Cerner EHR to integrate patient-generated data platform

Cerner is set to partner with Validic to incorporate software into its EHR that enables better access to patient-generated data from clinical and fitness devices and apps.

Validic, a software company based in Durham, N.C., and Mountain View, Calif., provides a cloud-based digital health platform with access to data from home clinical devices, wearables and healthcare apps. Cerner will incorporate the data from the remote devices into the patient's medical record, available for review by providers, according to a news release.

"Cerner is committed to working with our clients to create a future where the healthcare system works to improve the well-being of individuals and communities," said Brian Carter, senior director and general manager of personal health at Cerner, in the news release. "To be successful, it is critical to provide access to actionable data on a regular basis, not just what's collected when someone goes to the doctor."

Validic, a startup, raised $7.1 million in venture capital as of August 2014. It has reportedly signed clients in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Portugal, Brazil and South Africa, according to Venture Beat.
