Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare Systems enabled Amazon Alexa to tell patients where the nearest hospital or urgent care facility is and what the estimated wait time may be, according to the Independent Tribune.
After patients learn the details of the closest facility, they can use the Carolinas HealthCare app on their smartphone or tablet to reserve an appointment.
"Carolinas HealthCare System is always looking to make it easier for patients to get care," Pam DeSalvo Landis, VP of information and analytics services for Carolinas HealthCare, told Independent Tribune. "We know the last thing a patient needs during an urgent medical need is to have to figure out where to go. Using Alexa is quick and convenient."
