Care Connectivity Consortium Adds OCHIN as 6th Member

The Care Connectivity Consortium, a group of five leading healthcare organizations focused on improving the exchange of electronic health data, has added Portland, Ore.-based OCHIN, one of the nation's largest multistate health information network, as its sixth member.

The CCC was founded in 2011 by Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System; Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente; Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic; Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare and Seattle-based Group Health Cooperative.

A year ago, the CCC partnered with Healtheway, a nonprofit created to promote the eHealth Exchange and related HIE endeavors and standards development. Now, OCHIN, already a key part of Healtheway's innovation arm, will bring its technical and operational experience to the CCC.

"OCHIN's values are in alignment with the CCC’s mission to promote and develop innovative, efficient, effective and accessible HIE capabilities to support care providers and patients with easy, fast access to medical records at the point of care," said Stan Huff, MD, CMO of Intermountain Healthcare, in a news release. "This collaboration strengthens our resources and expands our capability for health information exchange."
