While 2,600 mental health employees at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente are on strike, a telehealth provider is stepping in to close the services gap with its offerings.
eTherapi is offering online therapy services to Kaiser Permanente mental health patients by state-licensed, credentialed telemedicine therapists. Additionally, Kaiser Permanente patients can utilize these services at a discounted rate during the strikes and for 30 days following the strike.
"This is precisely why we developed this telemedicine portal," said Jesse Sandoval, CEO of eTherapi. "We believe that patients should not be left struggling without access to services they need. The Kaiser strike is leaving patients in a tenuous position, and we want them to know that they can continue their therapy any day, from any location, through eTherapi."
eTherapi is integrated with 95 percent of payers, and many of the therapists accept Kaiser's insurance, according to a news release.
Kaiser Permanente mental health workers began a weeklong strike on Monday to protest what they consider insufficient staffing.
