California, Oregon Providers Exchanging Data Through ONC's Western States Consortium Project

Healthcare providers in California and Oregon are querying each other and exchanging patient data across state lines as a result of the Western States Consortium Project, a collaboration between the Office of National Coordinator for Health IT and 13 states.

The program focuses on overcoming technical barriers to facilitate interstate data exchange. States participating in the program include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

The data exchange between California and Oregon was the pilot aspect of the project.
