California Bill Requires EHRs, EMRs Record Changes to Stored Information

California Governor Jerry Brown has signed the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act to ensure the security of medical records, according to a news release by the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society.

The act, effective Jan. 1, requires that electronic health record and electronic medical record systems automatically track any changes to stored information and the identity of the person who made the changes.
