BMJ, a medical publisher that houses more than 55 journals, partnered with Figure 1, a social network service for healthcare professionals.
With the Figure 1 app, healthcare professionals can share medical cases and images with one another. Figure 1's new partnership provides researchers published in one of BMJ's journals with a platform to discuss their work immediately after publication.
Yusuke Tsugawa, MD, PhD, of Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University was the first researcher to host a live question-and-answer session through the partnership, after publishing his research on mortality rates in the publisher's flagship journal, The BMJ. Dr. Tsugawa's Q&A had more than 125,000 views and more than 150 comments, according to Figure 1.
"We are delighted to be working with Figure 1 to encourage researchers to engage with students and medical professionals on this exciting new platform," said Fiona Godlee, editor-in-chief of The BMJ. "BMJ is passionate about finding new ways to help clinicians develop their knowledge and skills, practice evidence-based medicine and improve outcomes for their patients."
