Phoenix-based Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona recently rolled out its BlueCare Anywhere telehealth program to qualifying members, the payer's telehealth vendor confirmed Jan. 18.
Here are three things to know about the program.
1. BCBS of Arizona members will be able to access telehealth services from the BlueCare Anywhere website or on the payer's smartphone app.
2. The BlueCare Anywhere program operates through an agreement with telehealth vendor American Well, which connects members to physicians through Amwell, its direct-to-consumer platform.
3. BlueCare Anywhere focuses on three areas of care, according to BCBS of Arizona officials.
- Medical, which covers common ailments such as allergies, strep throat or rashes.
- Counseling, which addresses conditions such as panic attacks, depression or bereavement.
- Psychiatry, which encompasses care for conditions such as anorexia, insomnia or obsessive compulsive disorder.
