Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System announced the implementation of mobile technology at five of its hospitals to improve the patient experience.
The 12-hospital system is using St. Petersburg, Fla.-based CLARIFIRE HEALTH software to enhance the nurse leader rounds in its inpatient units. The software will aid nurse managers, who typically record patient feedback about care and experience by hand each day and must follow up with other departments to address any outstanding needs after visiting the patient.
The new mHealth software replaces handwritten notes with handheld tablets outfitted with smart screens for patient rounds. Emails are automatically sent to other departments to address any patient needs. The system also streamlines handoffs between different nurses. It records only nonclinical information and is not part of the patient record, according to a statement.
The software was piloted at 687-bed Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla., 300-bed Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla., and 395-bed St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. The software has been fully launched in the three pilot hospitals as well as two additional BayCare facilities: 143-bed Mease Dunedin (Fla.) Hospital and 154-bed Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla.
