athenahealth, Merge Healthcare Partner for Data Exchange

Cloud-based health IT vendor athenahealth and clinical systems vendor Merge Healthcare have announced an interoperability partnership.

The partnership will integrate Merge's iConnect Network with athenahealth's national cloud-based platform, allowing athenaClinical electronic health record customers to receive and view exam results, high-resolution images and other patient information.

"By integrating iConnect Network within our cloud-based EHR workflow, we'll enhance communications between physicians and radiologists and speed the routing and availability of imaging studies to caregivers," said Doran Robinson, vice president of healthcare transactions at athenahealth, in a news release. "Together with Merge, we believe that information sharing is key to the advancement of care delivery. This is an exciting partnership that leverages the right technologies to make things work as they should in healthcare."
