Apple to build $1B data center in Ireland

An Irish court will allow Apple to build a $1 billion (€850 million) data center in the country, officials ruled Thursday, reports Reuters.

Apple has been planning to build the center in a rural location in the west of Ireland since February 2015, but a series of appeals blocked the company from beginning the project.

Apple's data center will be one of the biggest capital investments in the area and will provide nearly 300 construction jobs as well as 150 on-site permanent positions.
