Apple has 4,000 job openings, including Apple Health

Apple has more than 4,000 open jobs as of Feb. 27, with 32 related to the company's Apple Health division.

The open positions range from project manager to design producer and senior data scientist in the healthcare space. Many were published recently, but some, including a senior data scientist role, which requires prior experience in healthcare or digital health, have been open since October.

Other current job openings include:

• Health data systems quality engineer
• Machine learning scientist – health sensing
• Behavioral data scientist, health strategic initiatives
• AppleCare Engineering Health & Wellness Support Readiness Project Manager
• Fitness Performance Data Scientist
• Clinical Specialist, Cardiology

Apple has made several big pushes into healthcare over the past year, including recruiting a cardiologist David Tsay, MD, from New York City-based Columbia University Medical Center. The company also partners with Johnson & Johnson to develop iPhone and Apple Watch technology designed to speed up the detection of atrial fibrillation for users age 65 years and older. The companies launched a study of the technology on Feb. 25.

Apple Health Records is also growing, inking partnerships with Allscripts Sunrise, TouchWorks and Professional EHR clients and patients as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2019.

Last year, Morgan Stanley analysts projected Apple's healthcare revenue could hit $15 billion to $313 billion by 2027, and gave it a competitive advantage over Google and Amazon due to its loyal customer base. However, Amazon is also on a fast growth trajectory, reporting 37,800 full-time jobs open as of Feb. 17, with most being in its cloud business, Amazon Web Services.
