App Developers to Agree on Voluntary Privacy Guidelines

A coalition of mobile app developers and consumer protection advocates are working on a set of standardized, industry-wide, voluntary privacy policy guidelines, according to a Boston Globe report.

The guidelines are likely to include a brief label outlining an app's privacy policies to better inform the consumer of how personal information might be shared, according to the report.

The guidelines will "allow for greater transparency and comprehension among consumers of what's happening" to their information, said Tim Sparapani of the Application Developers Alliance in the report.
