American Well released an app update dubbed AW11 to streamline workflows for providers offering video-based patient visits, the telehealth provider announced May 1.
One of the app's new features includes an option to embed American Well's telehealth capabilities directly within a hospital's EMR. The company's vision for this feature is to improve provider experience, so providers are able to document patient information during a telehealth visit without having to open a separate app.
"Telehealth is expanding rapidly by way of consumer adoption," Roy Schoenberg, MD, president and CEO of American Well, said in a May 1 statement. "As a result, there's a heightened sense of urgency to tighten the integration into provider workflows, as the two are so deeply intertwined."
