American Well's Exchange allows telemedicine patients to choose their physician

American Well, a telehealth technology and services organization, has launched the Exchange, a telehealth service that will allow participants to redistribute their services online.

Participants include Cleveland Clinic, Orlando, Fla.-based Nemours Children's Health System and LiveHealth Online.

Through the Exchange, telehealth patients will be able to pick their own physician, regardless of whether they're in the same state. For example, Cleveland Clinic will utilize the LiveHealth Online platform. Patients in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will be able to use the LiveHealth platform to have televisits with Cleveland Clinic physicians.

Nemours Children's will utilize American Well's Amwell telehealth platform. Patients from across the state of Florida can access Nemours' physicians for televisits. Within the year, Nemours will expand its teleservices availability to patients in Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Roy Schoenberg, MD, CEO and co-founder of American Well, summed it up best, as noted by The New York Times: "Do you care which physician you see? The reality is yes."
